Postcards (2014)

Postcards
"In this work I photographed each of the windows in my parents new home, from attic to cellar. This exercise helped to familiarise myself with the new space, both physically and mentally. Česká Třebová is a town in the Eastern part of Czech Republic. As with many towns, it has been photographed for postcards since the beginnings of photography. From the many views I captured, I selected those which I felt would compliment the town as a postcard."
Draw me a Bicycle (2011)
Drawing survey
Draw Me a Bicycle
Draw Me a Bicycle
"In this project I approached random people at a social event and asked them to draw a bicycle on an A5 sheet of paper. The results were then exhibited to the guests later in the evening. It was at a party in London for people working in various fields of art. The images gave interesting insights into how male and female ways of depicting a bicycle differ, as well as the diverse interpretations of such a common object. Each person approached was confident in accepting the challenge, but to draw the bicycle from memory required a lot of thinking in some cases. I think it is possible to detect aspects of the artist's personality from each drawing."
Searching for the Heart of Southend-on-Sea (2011)
Social game
Searching for the Heart of Southend on Sea
Searching for the Heart of Southend on Sea
"This project saw me conducting an unusual survey in Southend-on-Sea for Artside Festival. I navigated the town according to instructions gained by interviewing local residents, seeking to understand the place better through people's opinions, stories and recommendations. The resulting series of portrait photos and questionnaires were exhibited in one of the festival venues on the high street.

I arrived in Southend early morning, spending two days exploring the town and talking with locals. My self-written rules dictated that I was guided by recommendation from one person to the next. My impromptu network comprised sixteen local people, who answered my questionnaire and told me what they loved about the town and culture. One of the central questions was to identify the heart of the town, an answer that I carried to the next participant. Most people considered the high street or the seafront as the heart of Southend-on-Sea. I feel that the real heart of a place is in the people themselves."
Fragmented Desire (2011)
Textile artefacts
Fragmented Desire
Fragmented Desire
"The series of fifteen artefacts represent fragments of my past wardrobe. I had previously collected found objects, pages from books, cards found on the street, quotations and graphic images of all kinds, without preserving my own. The artefacts here display snapshots of my personal history through the clothes that I wore at the time. They serve as mementos of my encounters and events, evoking feelings such as desire, sexuality and femininity. The exhibition invited a debate about the significance clothes have in portraying people's identity."
What the Thames Brought (2008)
Mixed media, found objects
What the Thames Brought
What the Thames Brought
"What the Thames Brought is a pair of plates, which present real archeological finds from the bank of the River Thames opposite Somerset House. These fragments of pottery, glass and real shell, are the result of a beachcombing session in 2007. Some pieces date back quite some time and are at least a hundred years old. What excited me the most about this project, was finding such unexpected elements of history that I did not expect to be there. They are a collection of treasure to me, a surreal treat for the viewer."
Pink Ballerina (2008)
Performance
Pink Ballerina
Pink Ballerina
"In summer 2008, I collaborated with my friend Petra Duspivová Záveská to create a human statue performance in the heart of London's Covent Garden. The inspiration came from a three piece pink outfit I saw in a shop window in Kilburn. Petra was an actress in theatre, with a background in dancing and ballet that contributed to her strong appearance in this role. Each time someone threw a coin she performed a series of mechanical ballet moves, concluding her movement by blowing a kiss to her benefactor. I documented the performance with video and a series of photographs."
Fakir Bed (2008)
Mixed media installation
Fakir Bed
"Fakir Bed was realised upon finding a wonderful old bed frame on a London street, having previously sketched drawings of pencils glued to furniture. I glued small white Koh-I-Noor pencils (from Czech Republic) in a precise pattern on the board, then reassembled the bed to be photographed outside. The piece can be remade on request, as the original was destroyed due to difficulty of storage. My Fakir Bed was imagined to be part of a series, the second piece being a black chair covered by white pencils."
